Yes. The applicant must provide bank statements and annual tax returns (Tax Returns) from their home country that clearly show the source and amount of funds, for review by the BOI.

You must have health insurance covering medical treatment in Thailand of at least 50,000 USD (including inpatient IPD cover, with at least 10 months remaining on the policy on the application date).

Yes. You can instead show a bank deposit (in Thailand or abroad) of at least 100,000 USD that has been held for at least 12 months, as an alternative form of security.

Yes, if the welfare scheme or government of your home country issues an official letter confirming that it covers your medical treatment costs while you are staying in Thailand, up to at least 50,000 USD.

At the stage of receiving the visa at immigration or the One Stop Service Center, you need an original medical certificate from a medical facility in Thailand (issued no more than 1 month earlier) confirming that you do not have any of the prohibited diseases specified in the ministerial regulations.

They must be translated into Thai or English and properly legalised (Legalized/Notarized) by the embassy or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in accordance with the law.

You can bring dependants (Dependents), namely a legally registered spouse and children under 20 years old, up to a maximum of 4 people per main visa holder. Dependants also receive a 10-year LTR visa.

A dependant's visa is tied to the main visa. If the main visa holder breaches the rules, has their visa revoked, or their visa expires, the dependant's visa will end automatically on the same day.

Yes. The BOI LTR system is open to all nationalities who can transparently prove their financial status and income according to the criteria (unlike the standard Retirement Visa system, which has restrictions for certain nationalities).

When applying for the second qualification approval (in year 5), the BOI will review your financial documents again. If you no longer meet the criteria, your LTR extension may be refused and you will need to apply for a different type of visa instead.

You can do your annual address report at the Immigration Bureau or at the BOI One Stop Service Center, which has staff dedicated to serving LTR holders.

You must obtain a new passport from your embassy, then bring the embassy's letter and the new passport to immigration to transfer the LTR visa stamp from the old record to the new passport.
